Montague, Texas
Montague, approximately 36 miles east of Henrietta, serves as the county seat for Montague County. Named after Daniel Montague, a surveyor who had participated in the Battle of San Jacinto, the town has a population of around 400 residents (source: U.S. Census Bureau).
State Highway 175 and 180 intersect in the heart of the town, with buildings dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A must-see is the historic Montague County Courthouse, an impressive three-story edifice constructed in 1912 (source: Montague County Courthouse).
The annual Montague County Frontier Days celebrates the rich history and cultural heritage of the area, attracting visitors from all around.
To reach Skelton’s Shop from Montague, head east on State Hwy 175 toward Henrietta for about 36 miles. Turn right onto TX-148 S. Then, turn left onto E Omega St, right onto N Bridge St, and left onto E Wichita St. Skelton’s Shop will be on the right.
