Nocona, Texas
Named after the Comanche chief Peta Nocona, the city of Nocona is located approximately 45 miles northwest of Henrietta. The city is known for its rich Native American history and its roots in the leather industry. As of the most recent data, it has a population of over 3,000 residents (source: U.S. Census Bureau).
U.S. Highway 82 and State Highway 175 are the main thoroughfares, featuring local businesses and attractions. One of the town’s main points of interest is the Nocona Athletic Goods Company, the last remaining baseball glove factory in the United States. The factory is especially renowned for its Nokona baseball gloves, a favorite among baseball players at all levels (source: Nokona).
Each year, the town hosts the Nocona Bullfest, a popular event where cowboys from around the country come to test their mettle against some of the most formidable rodeo bulls.
To get from Nocona to Skelton’s Shop in Henrietta, start on Clay St heading east toward Montague St. Continue onto FM 103 S, then turn right onto US-82 E. After approximately 37 miles, turn left onto TX-148 S. Drive for about 5 miles, then turn left onto E Omega St, right onto N Bridge St, and finally left onto E Wichita St. Skelton’s Shop will be on the right.
